In the spring of 2022, after the beginning of a full-scale military invasion and armed attack by Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine, the whole world faced the results of Russia’s blockade of ports and the “shot fields” of Ukraine. Previously, Ukrainian farmers accounted for almost 10% of the world’s wheat exports, 15% of corn exports, 15% of barley exports, and almost 50% of sunflower oil exports.
Since the first days of the full-scale invasion, the European Union has been actively involved in overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression.
In particular, as part of the FinancEast program implemented by the German Development Bank KfW and the Business Development Fund, agricultural enterprises from Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions received partial compensation for the costs incurred for the purchase of mineral fertilizers.
