While a robotic system pushes feed towards the cows, their condition is monitored by specialised sensors. One might assume this is a farm of the future. In fact, it is already a reality at “Mostyske Moloko”, an agricultural enterprise based in the Lviv region.
The Director, Yaroslav Pankiv, explains that this progress was made possible through the ARISE project. With ARISE support, the farm obtained financing that enabled the purchase of two tractors, forage-harvesting equipment, a high-quality baler, and also helped to address the financial challenges brought about by the full-scale war.
This type of support was critically needed from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. At that time, shortages of fuel, seeds, and fertilisers at the start of the sowing season had a significant negative impact on the farm’s operations and production volumes.
Despite these challenges, “Mostyske Moloko” continued uninterrupted deliveries of milk to its partner processing plants and also provided food assistance to ordinary Ukrainians who were forced to wait for many hours in queues to cross the border into Poland.
Since then, much has changed. Only one dream remains unchanged — Ukraine’s victory. What else the farm team is striving for can be discovered in the video.
The ARISE Project involved the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and was implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Fund in cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine over the period 2023–2025.
The project was financed through a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development amounting to USD 230 million, as well as grants totalling USD 365 million from the Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform Trust Fund (URTF).
Key stakeholders and partners included the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, World Bank Ukraine, and Bank Lviv.
