Ukrainian Credit Unions and National Development Institution Strengthen Microfinance Capacity During Lithuania Study Tour

style="max-width:

Representatives from Ukrainian credit unions and Ukraine’s National Development Institution are in Lithuania this week for a study tour supported by the Ukraine Solidarity Fund and coordinated by the Council of Europe Development Bank.

Drawing on the CEB’s experience in microfinance and institutional capacity building, the visit brings together Ukrainian and Lithuanian institutions to exchange practical experience on microfinance, agribusiness lending, governance, digital tools, ESG integration and inclusive finance. The programme is hosted by the Lithuanian Central Credit Union — also a CEB borrower in the microfinance sector — and includes exchanges with ILTE, Lithuania’s national development institution supporting small businesses and farmers through targeted financing programmes.

The goal: to strengthen institutional capacity and help prepare Ukrainian partners, including Ukraine’s National Development Institution, to roll out new microfinance products that expand access to finance for micro-entrepreneurs and vulnerable communities, supporting Ukraine’s recovery.

This peer-to-peer exchange is an important step toward building resilient, inclusive financial ecosystems in Ukraine.
