National Development Institution (NDI) contributes to advancing responsible governance in Ukraine

The United Nations Global Compact in Ukraine is implementing the ESG 360° School — an initiative that brings together experts to co-create modern ESG learning content for businesses.

Alisa Dorokhina, Chief Compliance Manager at the National Development Institution (NDI) of Ukraine, has joined the development of the Governance component. Together with compliance professionals from across sectors, she is contributing to a course designed to help businesses:

  • better understand ESG principles
  • build governance systems aligned with international standards
  • prepare for non-financial reporting in line with ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards), which will become mandatory in 2027–2028

During the first working group meeting in Kyiv, participants presented the concept of the Governance module, built around several key principles:

  • governance as a system — not just reporting, with a focus on transparency, integrity, and risk management
  • a structured model of five modules: System, Risks, Behaviour, Rules, Transparency
  • full alignment with ESRS requirements
  • a strong practical focus, including case studies, templates, and applied tools

Following the meeting, participants aligned on the course structure, defined priorities for the introductory block and the first module, and agreed on timelines and responsibilities.

This initiative sends a clear signal that the National Development Institution of Ukraine not only supports MSMEs but also contributes to shaping a culture of responsible governance in Ukraine.
