When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Lesia Bula, CEO of Dakh Style, feared most for the safety of her children and family. In the early days, she fled to Poland with her young daughter, but soon returned. It was then that she felt a renewed, profound bond with Ukraine—the land where she stands firm, builds, creates, and feels deeply responsible.
Alongside its team, the company immediately mobilized for volunteer work. Dakh Style turned over its warehouse and vehicle fleet to transport humanitarian aid, and purchased and delivered an off-road vehicle to the Armed Forces of Ukraine—support that continues to this day.
Today, Dakh Style employs 30 people. After several male staff members were drafted into the military, the company opened these roles to internally displaced professionals from Kharkiv.
About 90% of the company’s raw materials are imported. The manufacturer hit a major roadblock in March, when rolled steel was removed from Ukraine’s list of critical imports, severely disrupting cross-border payments to foreign suppliers. Dakh Style repeatedly petitioned the Cabinet of Ministers to outline the urgency of the issue—and the government listened. In addition, the entrepreneur secured working capital through the state-backed “Affordable Loans 5-7-9%” program.
Even through such headwinds, the company is determined to keep operating, protect its workforce, and move forward step by step. Dakh Style used to produce tens of thousands of square meters of roofing materials each month. Today, output has dropped significantly, and the footprint of its sales markets has contracted due to active combat. While the company’s margins have tightened, its primary mission remains unchanged: staying competitive.
Dakh Style now aims to expand well beyond Western Ukraine to cover the entire country. To achieve this, the team is ramping up marketing campaigns and deepening ties with architectural and design firms. Export plans are also on the table, though details remain confidential for now.
Currently, the company’s highest-demand product line is structural decking profiles, where Dakh Style ranks among Ukraine’s top five manufacturers. Because load-bearing profiles are a cornerstone of large-scale and industrial construction, the company knows its products will be vital to rebuilding Ukraine.
The challenges of war have hardened the company’s resilience. Dakh Style stands ready to rebuild the country, backed by substantial reserve production capacity.
